PRIOR LING

Prior Ling was another Calder Valley farm with many Mossop associations.
Clement Mossop died there in 1788 aged 79 and it was reported that 98 of his descendants including his widow
were present at his funeral at old St. Bridget's Church.  Descendants of Clement and Jane also owned Prior Ling.

A closer view of Prior Ling
One can imagine that despite the sadness of the occasion that there was a joyful reunion between his widow
Jane (Sharp) and her numerous offspring and between various branches of the family.

In the late 19th century it was owned by the Brown family but in 1898 their daughter Lizzie married John Mossop,
a brother of one of Grant Dixon's ancestors, and took over the running of the farm.
