LONSDALE TERRACE

Lonsdale Terrace in St. Bees was a fashionable address.
Henry Mossop of Rottington Hall had retired here to No. 8 by 1881 and died here in 1889.
His niece Ann MacQueen (nee Mossop), married to a Master at St. Bees School, lived at No. 5.

ABBEY FARM
Abbey Farm which stood next to the church and opposite St. Bees School
was leased by members of the Fox family for several generations.
Hannah Mossop of Rottington Hall married William Fox of Abbey Farm in 1794.
Their daughter Catherine Fox born 1802 married Alexander Coulthard in 1827.
There were three marriages between the Mossops of Rottington Hall and the Fox family of St. Bees in one generation.
Hannah's brother Moses Mossop married Mary Fox, sister of William Fox in 1799
and their sister Mary Mossop married James Fox, brother of William and Mary Fox in 1804


Abbey Farm and Farmyard have now become a Courtyard residential development
